Glossary
The words Circular OS and this Help Center use, from AVV code to weighing slip, each with a short definition, its German name and the guides that explain it.
Each term has its own link: copy it from the term to point a colleague, or an AI tool, at one definition. The German name is listed under every term, so you can match the English app to the German one.
- AI UploadKI-Upload
The part of Circular OS that reads your invoices, weighing slips and delivery slips and turns them into orders. Uploads, and documents sent to your processing email address, arrive as batches for you to review.
- Auto-approveAutomatische Genehmigung
AI Upload imports a recycler's documents without your review once you have approved three of its batches without a fix. Anything doubtful is held back in its own batch, with the reason.
- AVV codeAVV-Schlüssel
The six-digit waste code from the German waste catalogue (Abfallverzeichnis-Verordnung), written in pairs such as 17 04 05. Every waste type carries one, and Circular OS fills in the hazardous flag from it.
Also: waste code, EWC code
- BatchCharge
A set of documents uploaded together, or sent to your processing email address together, that AI Upload reads and you review and approve as one.
- Cancellation invoiceStornorechnung
An invoice that cancels an earlier one. AI Upload cancels the order it names, also against a credit note, and labels it as a cancellation.
- CollectionAbholung
The pickup of waste from one of your locations on a given day, the most common kind of order. The Orders list shows every collection, newest first.
Also: pickup
- Container typeBehältertyp
The kind and size of container a waste is collected in, such as a 1.1 m³ bin or a 40 m³ roll-off container. Container types are master data under Settings, and AI Upload reads them from your documents.
Also: container
- Cost per LocationKosten pro Standort
The table in the Cost Report that shows what each location spends on each waste type, with the all-in cost per tonne and the orders behind every figure.
- Credit noteGutschrift
A document in which the service provider pays you instead of invoicing you, usually for valuable material such as metal scrap. Credit notes can follow a price index.
- Delivery slipLieferschein
The document handed over at a collection that says what was collected, from where and how much. Uploaded to an order, it is read and kept as proof with the record.
Also: delivery note
- Density factorDichtefaktor
The weight of one cubic metre of a material in a container. With a density on the waste type, Circular OS estimates the weight of a collection that was not weighed.
Also: density
- Estimated weightGeschätztes Gewicht
A weight worked out from the container and the material's density factor when no one weighed the collection. Totals that include an estimate are marked, and hovering the marker shows how much is estimated.
- LocationStandort
One of your sites where waste is collected. Orders, costs and reports are grouped by location, and duplicate locations can be merged in Settings.
Also: site
- OrderAuftrag
One service for one of your locations: a collection, a transport or a container rental, with its lines, weights, costs and documents. Every figure in a report leads back to orders.
Also: service order
- Price indexPreisindex
A market index a contract price can be linked to. Credit notes then follow the index's monthly value without anyone changing the price by hand.
Also: index price
- Processing email addressVerarbeitungs-E-Mail-Adresse
Your organisation's own address for documents. Everything sent to it arrives in AI Upload as a batch, the same as an upload.
- Reading ruleRegel
A correction you save in AI Upload as a sentence, such as reading “Mixed scrap” from one recycler as steel scrap. The file is read again with it, and so is every later document from that recycler. Rules stay within your organisation.
Also: AI rule
- RecyclerEntsorger
The service provider that takes your waste and recycles or disposes of it, and whose weighing slips and invoices AI Upload reads. In the app, recyclers are listed with the service providers.
Also: disposer
- Recycling rateRecyclingquote
The share of your waste that is recycled, as your organisation defines it: recycling only, recycling and recovery, or everything diverted from landfill.
- Role groupRollengruppe
The kind of access a team has in Circular OS, for example insights only or running operations. Release notes in What's new are shown to the role groups they apply to.
- Separation rateGetrenntsammlungsquote
The share of your waste collected as separated streams rather than as mixed waste. It is the inverse of the mixed waste rate and shows on the Home dashboard.
- Service providerDienstleister
A company that carries out services for you: collecting, transporting, recycling or disposing of waste. Service providers and their locations are master data under Settings.
Also: supplier
- SurchargeZuschlag
An extra charge on an order on top of the service, reported by type: CO2 surcharge, energy surcharge, toll and other surcharge.

The yearly summary of the waste each site produced. Circular OS exports it per site as a spreadsheet for the authority report.

Also: material, waste material

Also: weighbridge ticket
